Working for so long in the field of English to Spanish translation I can safely conclude one thing that is you can find some of the most exacting people among Spanish translators. What I mean to say is that Spanish translators can spend hours taking apart and analyzing the quality of a translation that involves Spanish. If you know a Spanish translator, especially someone who has a reputation for good work, then just try him out by giving a copy of a translated document, for example something that has been translated from English to Spanish. Rest assured you would spend a good amount of time getting quality education in English to Spanish translation, as your translator friend rattles of how this word should have been used instead of that, and so on.

This happens to most of us Spanish translators because day in and day out our senses are assaulted by low quality and atrocious translations. We find them in all sorts of places, from restaurants to supermarkets to translated documents that come to us for proofreading! And many of us develop hardened opinions over the years, as to what constitutes a perfect translation. However, a perfect translation, like utopia might not exist at all! Because good translation in any language, is a combination of artistic and scientific effort which is substantially governed by one’s subjective interpretation.
